Start, pause, and finish
Open the main window from the menu bar, choose options and duration in the session tab, then Start. Pause releases sleep prevention; Resume continues with the selected options. Stop or expiry ends the session while the app stays open. Closing the window retains the menu bar app.
Options for your work
Use the presentation preset to keep the display on, or a download/rendering preset that lets the display sleep while preventing automatic system sleep. The app does not detect download or rendering completion. Security locking, explicit sleep commands, lid closure, and insufficient power remain controlled by macOS.
When automation does not restart
New rules work only after you enable them. All selected conditions must match; higher priority takes precedence. Manual Stop suppresses currently matching conditions. Automation can restart after conditions end and match again, or when you explicitly allow it again.
App Store and Direct editions
Caffeine Session provides automatic-sleep prevention, presets, automation, and a local 3D diagram. Measured temperatures, fan RPM, fan control, lid-closed control, and gamma dimming are not included in the App Store edition. Direct-edition sensors, fans, and external-display brightness depend on hardware and permissions.
What to include in a request
Email your macOS version, app version, symptoms, and reproduction steps. If useful, manually save support diagnostics in Settings, inspect them, and optionally attach the file. Diagnostics are not automatically sent.
Purchases and refunds
Apple handles payment and refunds for Mac App Store purchases. For purchase issues, check your Apple purchase history and describe the problem. This page does not have a separate checkout or subscription form.
